My word for the year for 2026 is "Peace". I found it was a word that was going over and over in my head from around October/November 2025 and realised it was there for a reason.
My monthly roundups are now going to consist of things I've done that month to bring me peace.
Two Months Dye Free
The 22nd of February marked two months since I last dyed my hair.
No regrets at all. No times of wanting to reach for the dye. So glad I cut from being down to my bum to just below my collarbone. I worried that cutting it and not dying it would mean losing my identity. Instead, I feel a weird sense of freedom and control. Seeing the different shades of grey, white, silver and other colours naturally growing is oddly exciting. And the harsh line I had beforehand is now blending nicely.
Booked!
I was feeling a lot of pressure for things we have planned this year and the to do list getting longer for those things. As a result I decided to tick off the easiest things. Booking hotels and transport.
I booked the hotel for London when we go to see Greg Davies and a hotel for Liverpool the night before we go to the Isle of Man TT.
I also wanted to have some other things to look forward to so me and my mum have booked a day in London in April to visit the V&A museum. We're getting the train there early and coming back late but I'm really excited to have some quality time with her doing something we've talked about for a long time.
I also have a list of comedians I really want to see and I noticed that Sam Campbell is touring this year and he was high on my list of comedians to see. I couldn't get decent seats at the venues near us so instead booked for Milton Keynes which just so happens to be around my birthday and our child free weekend so it will be nice to have a mini break away.
Scrapbooking month two!
When I started scrapbooking I really hoped it would be a habit and a hobby I would keep up with. And so far I have! It's such a lovely, peaceful thing to do. As well as being creative it's a lovely way to record memories and remind myself of what I have enjoyed.
Shut the Box!
I took my boys to a local pub on a Sunday afternoon. Rather than just sitting there having a drink and then leaving we took a game with us and it was so nice to sit and have something to focus on and to enjoy our time together, alongside talking.
It’s one of my favourite pub visits we’ve had.
Daily art journal!
Alongside my written journal last year I started an art journal. I use it to write down daily affirmations and intentions and I absolutely love doing it. I try to do it in the morning to start my day but if I do it later on then it’s ok, just as long as it’s done. Occasionally I will sit with my thoughts and write down what comes to my head or I will open Pinterest (after asking for guidance first) and will write down the first quote that shows for me. Due to my beliefs I feel that I am shown what I need to be shown at that point.
This is so calming and relaxing and is absolutely a non-negotiable when it comes to my day to day routine now.
