The Final 6 Books for 2025

Ward DWard D by Freida McFadden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As usual, very good, easy but gripping read. There was something missing for me though, which I can’t quite put my finger on. Maybe just that the twist didn’t seem quite as WOW as they usually are for me from Frieda’s books. However, I still really enjoyed it and it kept me guessing throughout.

Every Move You MakeEvery Move You Make by C.L. Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wanted to give this 3.5 so have gone for 4.
It was gripping and kept me guessing but I did find some of it a bit messy and confusing.

Ugly LoveUgly Love by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Without wanting to sound immature I do struggle with books with small font and long chapters. However, I forced myself to start this after loving Verity, It Ends With Us and It Starts With Us.
I soon became hooked by it!
It’s heartbreaking, it’s beautiful. It’s one of my favourite books!
There was not one character I didn’t like. Absolutely amazing.
Edited just to add….it did feel at times like it had the voice of Joe Goldberg as Miles. However, I love Joe Goldberg so it wasn’t a problem.

The BoyfriendThe Boyfriend by Freida McFadden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Brilliant suspense. Great to have the book written from two perspectives.
Was really confident I had sussed it out. I hadn’t. Brilliant twist.

Edited to add - Without wanting to share spoilers.
- Sydney probably could have made certain links sooner.
- I felt like there could have been more of a role for Kevin or to just leave him out after the first couple of chapters.

Death Row (Alibis Collection, #1)Death Row by Freida McFadden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m amazed by the negative reviews for this. I found it so gripping and loved the confusion of it.
I agree with what someone else said about the Epilogue. It was unnecessary or could have been written better as, when the confusion was cleared up it then created more.
Overall though, I’m giving it 5 stars.

The Surrogate MotherThe Surrogate Mother by Freida McFadden
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the first Freida McFadden book that I’ve given less than 4 stars to.
I usually can’t put her books down and they keep me gripped. This one just didn’t do that at all.
I found the storyline weak, no characters to really attach to or that were super likeable. It didn’t have that usual twist I really enjoy in her books.
It felt like an effort to read, to the point that maybe 3 stars are generous.
