I have two friends in particular that, in all honesty, I couldn't live without but unfortunately distance keeps us all apart.
Thank goodness for technology.
Back in May/June Hayley and I arranged to meet up in the school holidays. In the past we have met once with the children and at other times with just me travelling to stay at Hayley's for a girly sleepover, so we were excited to get the children together.
Rather than just a day out me and the boys went to Hayley's for a mini break.
It didn't get off to the best of starts when we realised the day before we were due to leave that the MOT on my car was due but my super wonderful kind husband straight away hired me a car for 5 days. I didn't even have to sulk!
So on Sunday, after we had gone to my other friends daughters birthday party we left for our 3 hour journey. As much as I loved the car we hired it turned out to be a bit uncomfortable compared to my older Focus and after an hour and a half we did have to pull over for a quick stretch.
We had a lovely 3 a half days involving a picnic, a visit to a windmill, fruit picking, a visit to an old house which is now just a ruin, lunch and a visit to Ampthill (hello charity shops and old sweet shop!), a trip to the woods and my first ever visit to Waitrose.
Our journey home felt so long but I treated us (cough me cough) to a trip to the Cath Kidston factory shop. I may have walked out with a large bag full of beautiful things.
It was lovely being able to be Lauren and the most wonderful thing is that Hayley and I met as "bloggers" and are now simply ourselves. We are friends without the blogging and it was lovely being able to spend time together as friends and as mums.
A friendship I truly value and treasure.
