I think it can be easy to look back on a hard week and miss out on those things. A week of bad weather for example can really make it seem as though the whole week was a complete fail. But it probably wasn't. We must all smile at least once a day. I know I do, even if I forget it.
Things that made me happy this week:
A Pub Dinner
We don't have a local pub that we visit. One that we feel really passionate about, one where we are familiar with the locals.
We do however have two favourite pubs an hour away. Last weekend we stayed on the boat, moored outside one of our favourite pubs. We decided to go for dinner there and to let the boys play in the garden. The weather was amazing, even in the evening, so we could relax and enjoy the lovely calm atmosphere.
The food in this pub is amazing. When we had our sailing course week I had lunch here 3 times, yes I know, not good for the diet, and I couldn't resist the fish and chips again.
I felt I deserved a treat, especially as I haven't had a takeaway for 4 weeks, and did go a little mad with the sauce. I actually cannot wait to eat here again.
Waking Up To This
One of the most fun things about mooring up and sleeping on the boat is wondering what the view will be like when we wake up. On Monday morning we woke up to very still water, which was wonderful seeing as the night before the water was so rough. We were in shallow water and a few teeny "beaches" which are very popular with the Goose population in this area.
There were a couple of small sail boats before 9 am, enjoying the quiet space I'd imagine, and it was delightful sitting out on deck, drinking a hot black coffee in shorts and a vest just watching the other boats and listening to the geese.
The Best Bouquet
One of the banks that we moor up on is covered, COVERED, in daisies. I really love daisies. In fact along with daffodils, lillies and tulips they are my favourite flower. With Harry asleep on Monday afternoon, I laid on the deck enjoying the sun and the calmness, I was unaware that Charles was picking daisies. He tried to make a daisy chain but it didn't work out and instead turned it into this beautiful little bouquet.
It's funny how small things like this can mean SO much, and be a really BIG deal. But it made me smile so much and is quite possibly one of the best bouquets I have ever been given.
He also managed to sneak in a beautiful Buttercup too.
Matalan and Sainsburys
Last Saturday I popped to Matalan and then on to Sainsburys with my mum. I was on the search for some shoes to wear to Britmums and although I couldn't find any suitable in Matalan I did finally buy some new underwear, ok ok, the new underwear is for Britmums just incase my dress is blown up by the wind. Seriously, if you are going to Britmums be prepared to be flashed.I then took a chance and ran into Sainsburys and found some super comfy shoes that had 25% off! Woohoo!
On Sunday I went back to Matalan again...achem....armed with my husbands card...achem....and purchased 2 pairs of shorts. So I was happy, really happy.
Espresso
This year I really got into black coffee, I much prefer it to anything milky or creamy. On Monday we popped to that favourite pub...again...hoping for a bacon sandwich but they had run out so instead we had a coffee in the garden whilst the boys played.I decided to go for an Espresso rather than a usual black coffee (which I could have had on the boat, in fact had just had on the boat). The Espresso was beautiful and will definitely be my coffee of choice if we go there again in the morning.
